Stephen Hunter, the Founding Partner at Hunter Law, PC, maintains a diverse litigation practice with considerable experience handling all aspects of civil litigation. Mr. Hunter’s practice for more than 16 years has focused on complex elder abuse and neglect claims against residential care facilities (assisted living and board and care), skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, hospice companies and hospitals. Mr. Hunter knows the secrets to success in elder abuse/neglect cases which requires an intimate knowledge of the laws and regulations governing long term care providers which are designed for patient safety.
Mr. Hunter has earned a reputation as an aggressive litigator who knows how to win and routinely does so while maintaining a high level of professionalism. He frequently receives calls for help and advice from experienced attorneys throughout California on nursing home litigation and welcomes the opportunity to assist his colleagues.
Mr. Hunter has been a frequent lecturer on the issues impacting care provided in skilled nursing facilities and assisted living facilities, in an effort to increase awareness on the intricacies of elder abuse and elder neglect litigation and to improve the quality of care for our senior population. He has also participated in numerous elder abuse mock trials at the USC Andrus School of Gerontolgy where the next generation of elder care advocates are educated on the issues impacting long term care.
Mr. Hunter was also involved in the preparation for a legislative hearing session involving a senate bill impacting the standard of proof in elder abuse and neglect cases in California.
When not fighting for his clients in the courtroom, you will likely find Mr. Hunter enjoying time with his wife and two amazing children. He also loves and cherishes his long conversations with his father, a long time California Superior Court Judge who now practices as a neutral mediator/arbitrator at JAMS, who instilled in him his love of the law and desire for justice.
